Pre-Engineering – Energy Sources & Applications (80 minutes)

This course will explore how electricity and electrical circuits work and the renewable/alternative energy options available today for consumers.  Students will have the opportunity to evaluate their own personal energy consumption and learn the basics about different energy types such as solar, wind, water, geothermal and biomass.

Hands-on activities include:

– design an energy efficient structure

– create and test prototype wind turbines

– design and build scale model wind turbine blades for University of Maine challenge

– build hydro-fuel cell cars

Open to sophomores, juniors and seniors.
