Residential Construction

The Residential Construction Program is a two-year program that concentrates on the residential carpentry trade. Students learn to work cooperatively in groups to complete projects. They also learn organizational and leadership skills that help them to be successful in the workplace.  Throughout both years of the program, there is a strong focus on employability skills.

In the first year, students receive instruction in the following units:

• Hand & Power Tools

• Building Materials and Fasteners

• Floor & Wall Framing • Roof Framing

During the second year, studentsreceive instruction in:

• Construction Drawings

• Energy Efficiency

• Basic Stair Construction • Wall Systems

• Career Opportunities

• Practical Application of Skills
