EMT – Emergency Medical Technician


The Emergency Medical Technician Program is an introduction to patient

assessment skills. Upon successful completion of the course, students will

earn 5 credits from KVCC for EMS 111 and be prepared to sit for the

EMS basic Certification Exam.
Content includes:
Management of airway and respiratory problems

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Techniques of oxygen therapy

Bleeding control and treatment for shock

Soft tissue injuries and fracture care

Principles of spinal immobilization

Fundamentals of triage and transportation of the sick and injured

Treatment modalities for a range of medical, obstetrical, pediatric,
environmental and behavioral emergencies.
