Learn essential electrical skills like wiring, safety, and code compliance in both classroom and real-world settings. Master advanced skills in solar energy and motor controls, and earn industry certifications and college credits.

No doubt about it, electricians are in high demand. Maybe it's hooking up a basic light switch. Maybe it's connecting a new, cutting edge solar array. Maybe it's diagnosing and fixing something someone needs to run their business. Maybe it's a gateway to electrical enginnering. This course immerses you in essential skills like electrical safety, wiring, and the National Electrical Code through hands-on experience.
Start with the basics in your first year—master wiring methods and tools in the shop. By your second year, advance to real-world projects such as solar energy systems, motor controls, and PLCs, all while refining your blueprint-reading skills.
As a senior, earn a certification from the National Association of Home Builders, and gain the credentials and experience to shine in the electrical industry.
Embrace the challenge to bring power to the masses.
This course provides students with the knowledge and background that prepares them for a career in the electrical field. Students learn electrical safety, tools of the trade, wiring, conduit parts, and assembly.
In the first year of this two-year program, students learn the basics of the National Electrical Code, blueprint reading, all aspects of residential wiring, and the theory of electricity. Students work in the shop applying the six common wiring methods using industry required tools and can also obtain an OSHA-10 certification.
During the second year, students continue to advance their studies of the National Electrical Code. Students work outside of the shop on practical “live work” projects including, Service Entrance Equipment, Motor Starters, Motor Controls, Solar Energy, Fire Alarm Systems, many aspects of commercial wiring, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s). Students also can earn additional college credits and have the opportunity to receive a certification through the National Association of Home Builders.
