More than half of the things produced in the USA require welding—the process of melting two pieces of metal to bring them together. Airplanes, cars, nuclear plants, pipelines, trailers, all the way to the chair you’re probably sitting in right now, required someone like you who wasn’t scared of fire and sparks to put them together. America’s welders are a necessity for our country's infrastructure. We need to fill 80,000 welding positions every year to keep the lights on and the bridges up. So if you’re interested in a hands-on, lucrative career that makes a difference, this is the program for you.

Two welding programs are offered at SCTC.. One at the Madison Junior Senior High School for students from Madison, Carrabec, Upper Kennebec Valley, and Skowhegan HS. For students from Skowhegan and Maine Central Institute, we offer a program at the Cianbro training facility. Both programs train you in structural welding processes to prepare you to earn a welding certification through the American Welding Society.
